Understand the difference between planning fees, venue costs, styling and guest-related expenses before comparing packages.
Start with four separate budgets
A destination-wedding quotation can look confusing when planning, venue, styling and guest logistics are mixed together. Separate them before comparing suppliers.
The four useful buckets are: planning and coordination, venue and catering, design and production, and guest logistics. Photography, makeup and entertainment can then be added as clearly defined choices.
Planning packages do not normally include the hotel
A planner's package covers the work needed to design, source, coordinate and execute the wedding. The resort normally quotes its venue, food, beverage and accommodation separately.
Ask every supplier to state exclusions in writing. The most important questions are taxes, service charges, overtime, transport, accommodation, rain backup and minimum food-and-beverage spend.
Use a range before asking for a final quote
An early range helps you choose the right venue type and service level without pretending every detail is already known.
A formal quote should only be issued after the date, guest count, venue requirements and major styling expectations are clear. This protects both the couple and the planner from misleading precision.
